Minutes for the Blue Ridge Farmers Market board meeting 5-11-09


Members Present:
Libby Stewart
Bill Marsh
Alyce Wirtz
Betty Rozier
Harry Spooner
Lisa Queen- taking minutes


Called to order by Libby Stewart

Tonight the board will conduct two interviews for the Market Director position. Board will consider using both applicants due to work load at market.
Responsibilities of Market Director will be arriving at 7 am on Sat., cleaning up, taking money, people management, etc.

Hannah Queen was interviewed first. She was asked about working both Wed. and Sat., which was fine. Asked about job sharing with other applicant, which was fine. Hannah told the board a little about herself and her passion for local farmers, local food, etc.

Betty was interviewed next. She stated that she had 18 yrs. of manufacturing experience and has moved around alot. Loves gardening. Involved in Feed Fannin. Libby spoke to Betty about job sharing, which was fine. Betty stated that she will need 3 days off during the market.

After discussion by board, Hannah and Betty were hired as the new Market Directors.


Bill Marsh asked the board to consider making the $3.00 vendor charge optional for board members. No decision made.


Libby stated that vendors will have two weeks to have picture of farm, craft, etc. at their vendor spot.


Board is considering designated parking for Farmer's Market customers and one way drive through around market.


Farmer's Market is in need for music groups and volunteers. Also will consider food demonstrations.


Lisa Queen will be getting aprons for Hannah and Betty to wear during market.
